Society’s perception of pleasure seems to be characterized by outdated roles and gender stereotypes. The fact that lust manifests itself individually in each body finds little place in the lust depicted in public space. “Tactile disembodiment” explores how lust can be expressed visually without relying on patriarchal imagery. Textiles are used as a method to approach the material sensuality of desire in an associative and experimental way. They are the fabric that separates us from our surroundings. Hence, can they act as a means of communicating our desires and thus lead to greater understanding and empathy?
