“The Sculptural Book” deals with the physical characteristics of the book and presents them in the form of objects. The aim is to show the performative and sculptural qualities of books. The project explores ways of working with and transcending the traditional book form and concept. The research is grounded in and informed by sculpture theory. Concepts of recontextualization and metaphor help to merge sculpture and book in an epistemological and artisanal process.

“We have never been in a better position to approach a given medium by imagining it in light of another, through another […] or like another. Such an oblique, off-centre vision can frequently offer a better opening onto that which lies at the heart of the system.” – Philippe Dubois
