Visual Culture 1

This seminar provides a comprehensive exploration of historical and contemporary discourses within the realm of visual culture(s), laying the foundation for active participation in debates within the fields of design and art studies, as well as practical discussions. Students will acquire a solid understanding of fundamental concepts, ideas, and explanatory approaches in the domain of visual culture(s). They will develop the ability to critically reflect upon and apply these concepts.

Throughout the course, students will be adept at identifying and analyzing debates and issues inherent to the field of visual culture(s). A key component of the seminar involves students actively contributing to the ongoing discourse through meaningful and informed contributions.

This interactive approach not only deepens their understanding but also positions them as valuable contributors to the evolving conversations in the subject area.

By the end of the seminar, participants will have honed their analytical skills, gained a nuanced grasp of historical and contemporary discourses, and acquired the ability to actively engage with and contribute to the vibrant discussions within the dynamic landscape of visual culture(s) my means of a contribution to a joint publication.
