This seminar provides a comprehensive exploration of historical and contemporary discourses within the realm of visual culture(s), serving as a foundation for active participation in debates within design and art studies, as well as practical discussions. Students will acquire a solid understanding of fundamental concepts, ideas, and explanatory approaches in the field of visual culture(s), empowering them to critically reflect upon and apply these concepts.

Throughout the course, students develop the ability to identify and analyze debates and issues inherent to the field of visual culture(s). A significant component of the seminar involves students actively contributing to the ongoing discourse through meaningful and informed contributions. This participatory approach not only deepens their understanding but positions them as valuable contributors to the evolving conversations within the dynamic landscape of visual culture(s).

By the conclusion of the seminar, participants will have honed their analytical skills, gained a nuanced grasp of historical and contemporary discourses, and acquired the ability to actively engage with and contribute to the vibrant discussions within the realm of visual culture(s) though a contribution to a joint publication.
