This thesis explores how the Self forms through narratives shaped by internal attachments and external structures. Moving through loss, grief, and melancholia as both personal and collective conditions, it traces the breaking of the heart as something that unsettles and reshapes the Self.

Across a written thesis and a visual essay—through Self-Inquiry, lived experience, and spiritual practice—the project turns not toward finding the Self, but losing it. In surrendering to profound loss, ambiguity, and impermanence, the Self loosens, opening space for a deeper awareness that encounters the world and its beauty from within.
