ELSEWHERE – An Exhibition on Spaces, Words and Narratives
Design Process 2
Students of the MA Visual Communication program have been experimenting with exhibition formats, taking their diverse work-inprogress as point of departure. Overlapping layers of other places are to be explored here – places that are located elsewhere. Individual journeys may provide insights to the domestic sphere or “wilderness” in the urban environment as well as to the stacked spaces of an archive or to the coordinates of poetic imagination. Diverse installations offer personal encounters with spaces elsewhere and relate to a broader context at the same time. Pointing towards two directions at the same time provokes questions: Which way of staging, media or furnishing seems appropriate? And: could an exhibition structure refer to multiple spaces at once?
The workshop understands the working methods of the students as a starting point. In several steps the social and exemplary demands in exhibition situations will be explored and discussed together.
