Intercultural integration between tradition, assimilation and diaspora

Images in the media have the ability to influence our ideas of other cultures. These ideas can lead to the formation of biases, which can in turn influence our communities.

Integration is a process that links individual persons or groups of different cultures, and forms them to a cultural unity. This process, at its best, is aimed at both indigenous and migrant population, in order to create something new out of their diversity. As a rule, the examination of cultures starts when the indigenous populations meet migrants. Though, both sites have been influenced by their imagery. The aim of this master thesis is a speculative study of the topic «Integration»; the images included in this thesis will be studied, described, rethought and interpreted in a new way.
